The number of medical assisting jobs in Kentucky is set to increase over the next few years as the population ages and demand for healthcare services grows. The latest figures from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics show 8,140 people are employed as medical assistants in the state.

There are no legal requirements for clinical, administrative or general medical assistants in Kentucky to be licensed, but having Registered or Certified status will give you the edge over the competition when applying for a position. Brown Mackie College

Brown Mackie College offers students the opportunity to study medical assisting on a diploma program at its campuses in Louisville and Hopkinsville. On completion of their training, students will be ready to take the AMT Certification exam and will have developed the competencies necessary for employment in an entry level medical assistant role, including medical office management skills and routine clinical procedures.

Ross Medical Education Center

Ross Medical Education Center has campuses located in Bowling Green, Erlanger and Owensboro where students can complete their medical assistant training on an ABHES accredited diploma program. Students can attend day, afternoon or evening classes. Students will have hands on lessons in multiple areas, including medical office procedures, routine lab tests, phlebotomy and examination room procedures. In addition, students will receive instruction in how to write a resume and interview techniques. Students are required to undertake a practical externship prior to graduating in order to get experience of working in a real world healthcare facility.
